30 for 30

30 Weeks Pregnant...
30 Years Old today.

Most of my family and friends know that I have been dreading the big 3-0. I don't have any big reason why, other than "30 seems sooooooo old!" Before we found out about Baby Smith, I had planned a big FOREVER 29 Party on this day. I vowed to stay 29 forever.

When I woke up this morning to a very active baby boy in my tummy, I began to think of 30 differently. Instead of feeling negative about another year older, I'm going to appreciate that fact that I am 30 years young. Some people don't make it to 30. Some people would give ANYTHING to see their child, spouse, mother, father, brother, sister.... turn 30.

In 30 years I have had my life changed for the better by incredible people who will never quite know their impact. Here is just a snapshot of a few of those people and things that make my world go 'round.

~Faith: I didn't grow up attending church every day, and it's not a part of our weekly routine, but I still talk to God every day. Sometimes prayers are answered, and sometimes he has something better planned for me. Everything happens for a reason.
~ Baby Smith: Just when I thought we'd never get pregnant, it happened! (Imagine Jason Aldean's "We Laughed Until We Cried" tune playing.)
~Adam: No one in this entire world gets me like he does.
~My parents: I don't tell them nearly enough how much I love them.
~My extended family: You go through life in fast forward and forget to appreciate the family in your life sometimes.
~My Smith/Chaney family: I hit the jackpot when I married Adam.
~Our Home: We've only been here for two years, but the memories made here are already enough to last a lifetime.
~My Job: Every day I wake up and go to a little place in the middle of Springboro, Ohio. It has a leaky roof, smelly furnace, and copy machines that always need fixed. It also has my dream job. I will always stand by my philosophy that I am "changing the world, one classroom at a time." I only have 8 days left with these 45 children. At this point in the year, they are testing everyone's patience, but I can't imagine a place I'd rather call "work." Unfortunately, a group of adults is trying to take that away from us this summer, but we will fight for what we love, and we will fight for these children and what THEY deserve. Not just what we want. It's too bad that these adults can't fight for the children like we do.
~My friends:  (See #4) We are all in fast forward, but many of my friends are better at keeping in touch than I am. Someday I'll get it right.

I get to see many of these people on Saturday at my baby shower! I can't wait!

30 Week Photo:

I have the best husband in the world, and not for just getting me a cheetah print cake, although this is quite incredible.

ELE Cake Co. has the BEST cake in the world. Trust me.

I told you about this "Beaver" nickname. Two years in a row I've had cakes with my nickname on it.

28 weeks!

It was Right to Read Week at our school this week! Tuesday was "Dress as your favorite storybook character" day, and so I chose The Cat in the Hat. It was much easier to fit into a black shirt than my costume last year: Junie B. Jones. :)

27 weeks!
